Post 1
Hey everyone! My name is Paige Phillips, and this is my blog!
My blog posts are going to be based around the business that I work for, Almaroad Properties! Almaroad Properties is a small family real estate agency in Jacksonville, and I absolutely love working there! I'm going to begin with a little bit of background of the business, and how I found myself working there.
Almaroad Properties was created by Sam and Celia Almaroad, who have lived in Jacksonville and raised their children here! Sam and Celia are very well known, not just in Jacksonville, but throughout the state of Alabama! They are very hardworking, Godly people who have made a great living for themselves over the years.
Sam Almaroad, patriarch of the family, started a construction company long before Almaroad Properties was thought of. "Sam Almaroad Construction" is very successful, and Sam has been in the home building business for over 40 years! He is very wise and trusted by so many people in our area. He is actually the Alabama Home Builder's Association's president this year!
Even if you don't know much about building homes or real estate, it's easy to see how those two could go hand-in-hand. Almaroad Properties is ran by Sam and Celia, and we currently have 6 real estate agents on staff! Celia is a real estate agent herself, and Sam and Celia's very own son-in-law, Duff Wagoner, is an agent here too! That makes for a very friendly, close-knit working environment.
I am the receptionist at the Almaroad Properties office, and I wouldn't trade this job for anything! I have worked here for two years now, and it is an absolute blessing to me that arrived at the very time I needed it! Sam and Celia have two daughters, Missy and Crissy, who were both Zeta Tau Alpha's when they were in college at Jacksonville State. They are now grown and graduated, and I am an active member of ZTA myself! That is what landed me this job. Celia only hires college students who are Zetas for this job, because she knows our advisors and they can recommend a member who is honest and hard working for the position.
The spring semester of my freshman year, I was looking for a job. One of our ZTA advisors called me and asked if I was in need of a job, and told me about an opportunity that was available. I was thrilled, and set up an interview! I was given the job on the spot, and am now in my second year of working here. Working for a family-owned business is an awesome experience, and this family has become my family in the two years I have known them.
Since this business is so small and family owned, it is sometimes hard to publicize it and advertise our properties and our agents. I am hoping to gain some knowledge in this class and help Sam and Celia in this part of their business, so I can give a little something back to them! :)
